Trending Spring Break 2018 Locations and The Best Places to Stay

The RBT girls never met a Spring Break we didn’t love! Sun or snow, the friends…. and obviously the fun memories we will never forget. With that being said, we want to share with you some of the top trending Spring Break locations of 2018 so you can enjoy just as much as we have.

P.S…. you do not have to be in school to go on Spring Break. “Adult Spring Breaks” are where the real fun comes into play! Sometimes we don’t want the typical ‘fly and flop’ lazy days, right? You can scroll about half way down to get to some alternatives to the classics.

Let us know your favorite place to go in the comments!

Panama City Beach, FL:

Although Panama City has worked hard to clean up the streets and make a name for itself other than the ‘Gulf Party City’, it is still a fun/wild destination for many. With an easy access airport to fly into, crazy beach parties, the beautiful gulf sand and beach, this location is hard to beat. Airbnb is definitely the way to go here… condo or house.

Colorado Spring Break Ski (Vail):

Just in case you have not had your fair share of snow this winter, try heading out to Vail, Colorado to hit up the slopes one last time for the season. Early spring is the best time to ski due to the warmer weather and less crowded slopes. Still plenty of powder for you ride, but you don’t need to freeze your little behind off! If you need a great ski suit, try Tipsy Elves – they will not disappoint. The best place to stay would be the Beaver Creek Resort.

“Cash me on the slopes. How bout dat?”

Miami, FL:

Welcome to Miami, Bienvenidos a Miami! Bouncin’ in the club where the heat is on, All night, on the beach till the break of dawn. I’m goin’ to Miami. Welcome to Miami.”

(Neither Will Smith nor pink satin shirt is included in this trip)

Calling all South Beach lovers!!! Head on down to South Beach Miami for a little FUN in the sun. The Fresh Prince unfortunately will not be there to get things started but LIV, Ora, Story, Hyde Beach and Nikki Beach are the places to be.

An AirBnb is definitely the way to go in Miami as hotels can really hike up the prices on high seasons. Plus, if we have you pegged and you’ll be hitting the nightlife, it will help to have the common area of the AirBnb to convene before you go to save money! You can find an apartment that sleeps up to 6 people for around $100-$150 a night a be golden when you split the costs.

Orlando/Disney World, FL:

The world where your inner child can come out. Disney World is not just for children! Maybe the ‘magic’ has faded as an adult but the thrills, rides and Mickey ears are definitely still there. Orlando is HOT in the summer so our suggestion is to go during the spring. It’s the perfect time!

South Padre Island, TX:

This island is known for its beaches and calm water so sign me up! The water might be calm but the parties are not. South Padre has the largest and best spring break parties so if you are looking for a wild week, this is your location! You may not spend much time in your room but one is definitely needed.

This is your 24-hour beach bash location, so we recommend an Airbnb so you have a communal place for your crew to crash. No worrying about angering housekeeping, you can come and go as you please, and you can do one big sweep at the end of the stay for all your things. It’ll be like what happens in South Padre, stays in South Padre!

New Orleans, LA:

NOLA is one of the most fascinating cities in the US and it’s arguably one of the most fun! You can see a Pelicans game at the Smoothie King Center, listen to incredible Jazz Music in the French Quarter, eat a beignet from Cafe Du Monde and drink a hurricane on Bourbon Street. It’s quite possible you wont ever get to sleep – but it’s Spring Break! Sleep might not be on your list of things to do if we’re avoiding the work and going on vacay right?

The history of this city is unparalleled and as an added environmental aspect, there are certainly parts of the city that still need help if thats of interest for your trip. Last but not least, ghost tours are always a blast! With unrivaled history, comes the past that just wont leave. Grab someone to grab, and get your scare on exploring the voodoo this city is known for.

In terms of places to stay – we vote booking early and trying to snag an Airbnb close into town. However, too close the French Quarter and you’re going to be paying for it – way over $200 a night depending. We recommend looking at Bayou St. John, Mid-City, Seventh Ward, and the fun outskirt towns that are still super accessible and awesome themselves!

Cancún, Mexico:

Grab your passport and head to this Spring Break classic! Cancún is a consistent crowd pleaser for the party goers and relaxation seekers alike. Being so large and equipped with tourist knowledge, you’ll find everything you’ve ever needed.

Of course, we caution, this is a very experienced party town. If you’re going with your family – this disclaimer is not for you. If you’re still reading – this disclaimer is for you. Just be smart, k?

If you’re going to be in the area for awhile – this area is FULL of day trips and phenomenal extras to see. Chichén Itzá, is the most popular with El Castillo pyramid, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. However, this huge city also has other jaw-dropping structures like the Observatory and the Temple of the Warriors. Playa del Carmen is also extremely close by and one of the top diving destinations in the world, thanks to vibrant sea life and dazzling underwater caverns – TripAdvisor.

For this kind of town it might be nice to find a hotel and be able to come & go as you please and have the amenities at your beck and call. Honestly, it all depends on your preference! We do hear the Oasis Cancun Lite is the #1 Spring Break lodging for students!

Feel like shaking it up this Spring Break?

According to quite a few new observations (most notably the Associated Press) – it seems 2018 is different. It looks like this year, many Spring Breakers aren’t looking for the typical “fly and flop” beach vacation. Apparently, the exotic is in, and the lazy is out! We couldn’t be more thrilled with this trend being travel addicts ourselves – so had a great time picking some awesome new destinations for your consideration.

Here are some the most popular and out of the box Spring Break alternatives!

Machu Picchu – Peru

Adventure, amazing people, and beautiful views no matter where you go! Of course, visiting Aguas Calientes, you have to make the hike to the historical and legendary Machu Picchu. So, this may be the trip for the more adventure inclined. But we’ve never heard a negative statement about Peru, so we can see why this has jumped up to one of the more popular Spring Break “alt” options!

Where to stay? The airbnb’s here are extremely affordable, and it seems as though you’ll never be without a hospitable host. Just look as some of the incredible photos we’ve found!

London, England

Exotic? Maybe not the most. But different? Absolutely! A week in London can be spent exploring multiple other centuries, touring hundreds of pubs and cuisines, and rocking out where the best of the best have made their names. This iconic city has been around for longer then the majority of Americans would like to believe and I can honestly say I’m happy it’s on this list! Plus, I’ve always wanted to go around and pretend I’m a high school hooligan in Skins – I could totally pull off that look, don’t you think?

Florence, Italy

How about we take a page out of the “eat” section of “eat, pray, love” for your Spring Break? It’s no secret we adore the food Italians have graced our planet with. Plus, if you’ve ever wanted the motivation to get up and go experience it for yourself you can take a read from our good friend Nelly when she went there solo like a bad ass.

Italy has not only heavenly food, awe-inspiring history, tear jerkingly beautiful art, utterly majestic landscapes, locally diverse cities, and wonderfully hospitable people but. . . .

I’m sorry … why are we not all buying tickets to Florence right now?

Florence is the capital of the Tuscany region (also known as the Renaissance capital) and is literally always described in grand flowery language. Maybe you’re into the iconic countryside and want to take your family through the hills! Maybe you’re looking for a romantic food and history filled getaway! No matter what you do, you can see why Florence (or literally any other part of Italy) is on the list of the Spring Break alternatives.

Asia has always been our pipe dream of backpacking and country hopping. It’s always so fun and etherial to experience such a fundamentally different part of our world! You may remember our good friend Jeff recently went to Singapore for only about 48 hours – though if this Vietnam trip is happening – we plan to stay for quite a bit longer.

Vietnam can be historically warm and dry around March and April so this is the PRIME time to go. Other than that and you’ll be swimming in humidity! THough, from Hanai to Saigon – it’s usually always going to be a tad humid. Though of course, we can defiitely list Vietnam under both “fly and flop” and “alternative” sections because the beaches here are absolutely gorgeous! Try Nha Trang in the south or Phú Quốc for it’s white sand beaches.

If there is anything special we do suggest you see, stop by the city of Hoi An! On the 14th day of each lunar month, the town switches its electric lights for traditional colored lanterns.

We hope you find something amazing for your Spring Break!
