Everyone loves an amazing city with fun activities.
Nashville has been getting a whole lot of love lately and everyone loves local activities during the summer. Everywhere I travel people always ask me, “So, where are you from?” The reaction is always the same when I tell them. “Oh I LOVE Nashville!!” From being listed as one of the top 23 places to travel in 2018 by Forbes, to the amazing food and music, to officially passing Las Vegas as the number 1 place to celebrate your bachelorette weekend — — all eyes seem to be on Music City.
What makes Nashville so special? Not only are the people extremely nice (hello southern hospitality) but everyone is beautiful and extremely talented here. Nashville is very touristy now but that does not mean the locals do not have their own places to go without being bombarded with long lines.
As a resident who has lived in Nashville for 3 years, I feel like I know a thing or two about this city. It has changed so much since moving here that watching the city you love grow, has turned into an exciting time.
Here are the must-do things and must-go places in Nashville that will get you feeling like a Nashvillite in no time.
Spend an afternoon sipping vino in the sunshine on a grassy hill overlooking the vineyards owned by country music artist Kix Brooks, winemaker Kip Summers, and entrepreneur John Russell. During the warmer months, there is free music. Have everyone in your group bring a snack/finger food to share and enjoy the view, weather and music.
Train to Winery
That’s right people!!! Nashville has a train that runs about 80 miles one way to DelMonaco Winery & Vineyards where you are guided through winery tours, scavenger hunts, games and live music. I love a nice glass of wine without having to drive home! Just catch an Uber from the train station once home. How amazing does this sound???
Kung fu Saloon
Best spot for a Sunday Funday. On a nice day, head over to this barcade with great DJs. Kung Fu gets pretty packed on Friday and Saturday nights and a little “collegy” (is that a word??). I have found Sundays are the best day to relax, drink and play games inside and out here.
MY FAVORITES!!!!! I have never met a rooftop I did not love. Here are a few of my favorites in Nashville: Whiskey Row, L27, Rare Bird, FGL House and LA Jackson.
Nashville’s heat is no joke so take an afternoon with a cooler full of adult beverages and hit up Foggy Bottom Canoe Rocks! Cabrew (aka: canoe with alcohol) down the Harpeth River with your crew.
Do not try this if you are claustrophobic!!! Nashville has a few different Escape Games to choose from but I would say Heist is my favorite. Grab a couple of your closest friends and work together to figure out a plethora of clues in order to get the code to escape in an hour.
I know Top Golf is pretty popular in a lot of major cities worldwide. BUT, did you know Nashville is one of the very few places that has a venue at their Top Golf? Nashville’s Top Golf is just like every other location I have been to but with a stage and venue area able to house and showcase amazing talent.
^^^^ Nighttime vs Daytime^^^^
A few of my favorite local shops are White’s Merchantile, Blush, Vinnie Louse, Project 615 and Two Old Hippies
While Broadway is always a good time, some people (like myself) need a little booty shaking music without the cowboy boots and shoulder to shoulder crowds. Back Corner is ALWAYS a good time with hiphop/r&b music. Another great spot if you’re looking for live music would be 12th and Porter.
Forget the long line at Pancake Pantry (even though this place is legit) and head over to a few local spots. You will not be disappointed with Tavern, Saint Anejo, Henriette Red or Josephine.
From personal experience, I would have to say Shed Group Fitness is the best workout in Nashville. Located in the Gulch, Belle Meade and soon to be in Germantown, experience high intensity training at it’s best!! I feel great about myself everytime I leave 🙂
